Today’s stream was all about why the dollar refuses to catch a bid, how short-term narratives keep driving market swings, and where the real momentum & potential risk lies in individual names.
Indecision in the Indices: Nasdaq Up, Russell Softens
Markets still look healthy.
Nasdaq has kept climbing, ending the day in the green.
Nvidia, meanwhile, lots of indecisive action, very little follow-through in either direction, and the next big catalyst looks far from certain.
This will likely add to concerns that the door to China’s market is less open than it was…
We can increase the probability of localisation:

We’ve done this before. China’s DeepSeek was supposed to mean the end for Nvidia because of greater efficiencies.
Now we’re supposed to believe that China can suddenly close the gap on Nvidia’s chips…
Even though nobody else has come close.
The market will likely price in some probability that increased competition is a risk, but perhaps lessons were learnt from the DeepSeek Panic…
